Just a pretty face and a hot body? Nope. Six ‘Crave’ compilations in and Havana Brown is on her way to being a jack of many things music. The first Australian female DJ to sign to a major label, hold down regular radio spots broadcast nation wide and with her studio album on the way, what she will master next is anyone’s guess. Crave Vol. 6 serves the usual three CD mix taking you from hot right now, in the club, to old school. What Brown does well is dance. This is clear. CD 2 begins with her own single, ‘We Run The Night’ and is a sophisticated mix of good song choices and elegant mixing. Her dance mixes are the best. In a male dominated industry, as is Djing, a girl’s perspective is refreshing in the sense it is not so different from any compilation album out produced by a male. It seems what’s unique to Havana Brown is her point of view; she is Australian, female, a singer, a writer and a DJ. Her old school mix (Disc 3) shows she knows what mainstream Aussie listeners want to hear, if Crave as a brand hitting the top 10 ARIA charts is anything to go by. Overall, Crave Vol.6 is fun, cool, sexy and exciting in the sense that Havana Brown is waving the flag for Australian music and women while she plays Grammy Award after parties, opens for the likes of Rihanna, Britney Spears, Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas and more. In such a competitive industry Havana Brown is driven and determined, shaping a career spanning record, and deserves to accumulate the accolades she has so far. Reviewed by: Aleyna Martinez
