Ministry of Sound has done it again with their new compilation record for the inspired fitness fanatic. Spread over three CDs, ‘Running Trax’ produces hard hitting, up beat dance tracks that are certain to keep you on the move. Whether you’re at level 14 on the treadmill or out in the sunshine strolling through the local park, ‘Running Trax’ suits all levels of running ability. Disc one is set at the lowest of the BPM levels for those who prefer the light jog with some inspirational tunes from Miami Horror, Bob Sinclar, Armand Helden, Lady Gaga and Rihanna. All tracks are bound to get you off the couch in the lead up to this summer with a range of artists from the past 11 years. Disc two steps up the beats per minute for those who enjoy running. This disc provides motivational music from an extended Empire Of The Sun classic, Dizzee Rascal at his best, a new one from Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, a Pitball track that will certainly inspire you and of course one from the great David Guetta. If that’s not enough, you can always skip over to disc three. The final disc in the compilation set pushes you to new heights, upping the BPM level once more for the keen sprinter. With artists performing such as 4 Strings, Fragma, Robert Miles and Cascada, these 20 tracks will have you running faster than Usain Bolt. So no matter what type of running you plan to do leading into this summer, ‘Running Trax’ is the perfect compliment to any work out.
MOS Running Trax Review

Running Trax, Ministry of Sound's compilation of the ultimate in get up and go music, features 3 CDs of upbeat dance anthems, each disc specially designed to provide the best possible motivation. Disc one features funky floor-fillers from the likes of Eric Prydz, Armand van Helden and Freemasons, as well as dance versions of smashes "Million Dollar Bill" and "Meet Me Halfway". Disc 2 pumps with Electro anthems from Dizzee Rascal, Justice, Deadmau5, Fedde Le Grand and Kid Cudi. Finally at maximum pace is disc 3 with some classic Trance from Faithless, Chicane, Cascada and Sash. Most tracks many will have heard before and know quite well, some will struggle with the MOS formula of releasing covered versions of original hits. To me one of the ultimate running (or in fact spinning) track is Darude’s Sandstorm and I was hopeful for a different version on this offering but it was not to be. Some tracks I found to be quite lengthy (We are The People – Empire of The Sun) = seven minutes 22 seconds! Overall an energetic and fun offering blended into one continuous mix that will see you all making like Gump (Run Forest Run!).

Perfect. I have had the thought in my head for a while that someone should bring out a CD of cool tracks to work out/run to. I'm not stupid, I know there are probably quite a few such CDs around but this one just fell into my lap. Anything to do with the Ministry of Sound is guaranteed to be a winner from the get-go. Any CD (or 3 in this case) that is designed to get you pumped up for a workout whether it be walking/jogging all the way through to those Les Mills type energetic routines better conducted in your bedroom where no-one can see you, that way you can really cut loose!!) must have a killer track list to entice the exercise-er to want to keep doing just that. All three CDs bring a new experience and there are the standard champion workout songs (Pump It Up) to the latest dance tracks with those thumping beats that you see in a whole new light once you've run to them, instead of the standard club bump and grind. Disc 2 is my personal fave while Disc 3 lacks a bit of spark for me, but that could be because I like to sing along (in my head) whilst working out and the tracks on Disc 3 dont satisty these desires. Great mixed bag. Run out and get it now!! (haha.. get it?)
