Muscles Returns With The 'Younger & Immature' EP

Rating:   8/9/2010 shareShare

You’ve heard the infectious echoes of his songs, you got up to get down at his show and yes, heard the stories; true, false, or otherwise, but hark from the rooftops, the beat wizard who delivered everyone’s favourite ode to iced dairy is back!

Come this October, Muscles will make his triumphant return to the indie throne with the release of his Younger & Immature EP.

Clocking in at just over 20 minutes, it’s a hard hitting, no fuss collection of deep techno swirls, luscious indie sensibilities and driving beats all wrapped up in the Muscles brand of classic pop (with its fair share of ‘Ohhhs’ and ‘Ahhhs’ thrown in for good measure). The EP is a labour of love from the one-man-juggernaut that has somewhat consumed him in a cloud of love, lust, and positive energy.

Rather than tackling the dreaded second album syndrome head on, Muscles has instead taken a decent break to clear his head and rediscover the essence of what makes his music so special – producing thumping rave tunes that makes dancefloors bounce and kids take their shirts off and dance.

The first taste off the forthcoming EP will be the lead banger Girl Crazy Go! an apt slice of the Muscles pie with its ginormous shout aloud chorus and catchy-as-hell enthusiasm. The single comes accompanied by remixes from Beni and Them Jeans.

The Younger and Immature EP is Muscles wearing his heart on his sleeve, givin’ the bird to the nay-sayers and a love letter to the fans. It’s peace, love and ecstasy’s little brother… an oxymoron of sorts because this little kid is growing up.

Well Muscles certainly has the catchy-pop-dance-electronic-feelgood-hit-of-the-summer thing down pat, doesn’t he? He’s back with a new EP called ‘Younger and Immature’, and this reviewer is fairly certain that the only thing Muscles likes more than irony is writing tunes that will certainly get the kids up and dancing at festivals worldwide. ‘Younger & Immature’ provides a solid knowledge of beats, hooks and samples, stretching over a myriad of genres such as pop, indie, dance and techno. A very bright and colourful offering from the Melburnian and it’s thoroughly suggested that you listen to these tunes with the beach in sight, beer in hand and your pals by your side. Seriously fun, chilled out pop.
